Software Development Manager – Media Solutions
Adobe is looking for an Engineering Manager that will be leading a team of developers and quality engineers within the Media Solutions team. You will be responsible for taking specific product features through entire life cycle, from requirement analysis to delivery, meeting the reliability, performance and quality targets required in our company.
Together with your team, you will contribute to defining tomorrow’s technologies and solutions that make it easy to monetize video content online using the Adobe Video Solutions. You will contribute to projects like Adobe Pass (for seamless authentication) and Open Source Media Framework (for delivering high-quality, full-featured playback experiences). You will also have to collaborate closely with remote peers from the Omniture and Auditude teams in order to integrate end-to-end measurement and advertising workflows.
You have to be passionate about web technologies and knowledgeable in SaaS architectures as the projects revolve around hosted services and solutions with a big focus on delivering, protecting and monetizing online video, using Adobe Video technology.
As a people manager, you will have to recruit and mentor people to make them part of your team, keeping your direct reports motivated, reviewing performance of the team members and participating in management related activities in Adobe Romania.
Responsibilities
- Lead an agile, highly collaborative and passionate team working on new product development
- Work closely with US and Romanian team members (Quality Engineers, Product Managers, Program Managers, etc.) to define features and priorities, create and maintain project plans and schedules
- Inspect team progress and provide regular feedback, anticipating and overcoming potential conflicts and roadblocks
- Review and contribute to architectural decisions and feature specifications
- Grow team members: mentor by providing knowledge and expertise, set goals and review their performance
- Inspire team members, ensuring that team dynamics continues to be healthy and that team cohesion is high
- Develop and improve the development process to optimize team’s efficiency and effectiveness
- Stay in touch with the latest technologies and trends, especially in the online video industry
Previous experience
- B.S or M.S. degree in Computer Sciences, Engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years of software development experience
- Proven people management skills in leading teams of 3 or more and projects of 6 man/months or more
- Web development know-how
- Ability to understand business context and requirements, strong customer focus
- Passion about software development and knowledge about software development methodologies
- Able to motivate, inspire and grow team members
- Strong ambition and self-drive
- Top notch communication skills, able to be credible and convincing in a simple phone conversation in English, able to deliver short but high-impact presentations and pitches
- Fluent in English (both written and spoken)
Nice to have
- Experience with new product development
- Experience managing cross functional teams (developers and quality engineers) is a big plus
- Knowledge in agile development practices (ex: SCRUM)
- Experience with managing hosted services and operations (SaaS model) is a big plus
- Experience with online video
